Braves Reveal Hank Aaron Tribute Uniform – The A

Braves Hank Aaron Tribute UniformOn Monday, the Braves revealed their new Nike City Connect uniforms, paying tribute to legendary baseball player Hank Aaron. The Braves are the first of six Major League Baseball teams to showcase their City Connect uniforms this season, which will be worn on Saturday, April 8 against the Padres, coinciding with the anniversary of Aaron’s record-breaking 715th home run on April 8, 1974.

The City Connect uniform series, launched in 2021, is a collaborative effort between Nike and MLB teams, with the goal of celebrating the unique personalities, values, and customs of each community. The new Braves jersey draws inspiration from the iconic 1974 Braves uniform, with “The A” prominently displayed across the chest. The inside collar features a “715” graphic, referencing the scoreboard lights at Atlanta Stadium after Aaron’s historic homer. The design on the sleeves pays homage to Aaron as the home run king, and the ribbing pattern on the crown mirrors the Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded to Aaron by President George W. Bush. The uniform also includes Aaron’s motto and number, “Keep Swinging #44,” above the jock tag.

The City Connect merchandise, including the Braves’ new uniforms, will be available for purchase starting Saturday at the Braves Clubhouse Store at Truist Park, as well as other locations such as Nike.com and mlbshop.com. A portion of the proceeds from merchandise sold at the Braves Clubhouse Store will support the Henry Louis Aaron Fund, which aims to increase minority participation in baseball both on and off the field and invests in opportunities for diverse entrepreneurs and minority-owned small businesses.

The Braves are one of 20 MLB teams participating in the City Connect program, with six teams, including the Rangers, Mariners, Reds, Orioles, and Pirates, debuting their City Connect uniforms this year. The Braves’ City Connect uniform is a fitting tribute to Hank Aaron’s legacy and an exciting addition to the program, celebrating the connection between baseball, community, and innovation.
